What? An American-inspired bar serving some of the best hot fried chicken this side of the deep south
Where? Top of Caxton Street at 48 Petrie Terrace
Why visit? The fried chicken, American beer and dark spirits. Obviously.
Drink this: Baller Boiler – Deep Creek IPA with five-year-old Willet Pot Still Reserve whiskey
Insider tip: Know your spice limit. You are required to choose your heat level for the chicken and unsurprisingly ‘Really F*ckingHot!!’ should be left for the spice pros.
What? Fritzenberger is all about frites and burgers washed down with cold beer brewed on-site.
Where? Corner of Caxton St and Petrie Tce.
Why visit? The open layout and huge windows are great for people watching, plus the flat screens are always showing that game you want to watch.
Drink this: Coffee IPA
Insider tip: Take a selfie while sipping beer for the obligatory moustache shot, and don’t forget to take a 1.9l growler of beer home with you.
What? The Lord Alfred has been a Brisbane institution for over 140 years. There’s multiple bars over two levels, a brasserie for early morning coffee and an in-house kitchen so you can replenish those hunger pangs.

Why visit? Drinks, food, live music, sport on the big screen – we could go on all day!
Drink this: Grab yourself a jug of draught and share it with a mate proper pub style.
Insider tip: Choose a game night to have a quiet beer on the upstairs balcony and watch the punters on the street below.
What? Alfresco bar serving up funky Australian wines, classic cocktails, and craft beer.
Where? 2 Caxton St. It sits between Judge and Weetman streets.
Why visit? An ever-changing wine menu with staff who can educate you while they water you.
Drink this: Barrel-aged Negroni. This is a thing that exists.
Insider tip: These guys are BYO food. Order your favourite snacks from surrounding purveyors.
What? Lefty’s is Brisbane’s dirty little secret. It’s dimly lit and full of music, the bartenders are among the best and you won’t leave without having a boogie.
Where? Standing tall and proud over two levels at 15 Caxton St.
Why visit? For a knee-slappin’, riff rollin’, whisky slammin’ good time.
Drink this: Whiskey Apple
Insider tip: Toss your bra and if you can land it on one of the two giant moose heads it means free drinks all round for you and your crew!
What? New Orleans-style oyster and cocktail bar.
Where? Right next door to its older sibling, Lefty’s, at 19 Caxton St.
Why visit? Swing along to some live piano with a glittering cocktail in one hand and a half dozen oysters in the other.
Drink this: Champagne darling!

Why visit? Every bar stocks its favourite craft beer, some might even have two. These guys have literally hundreds.

Insider tip: There are specials on Mondays and Tuesdays, so head in to take advantage of the deals.
What? A rock n roll Italian restaurant and bar with bad ass bartenders and a large courtyard.
Where? Across the road from Brewski at 25 Caxton St.
Why visit? The only thing better than traditional Italian bites is traditional Italian bites with a long list of spritzes.
Drink this: Campari with freshly squeezed grapefruit.
Insider tip: Head here between 4 and 6pm daily for $10 spritz and complimentary bar snacks.
What? The Caxton (“Cacko”) is one of Brisbane’s oldest and most revered drinking holes. Opening in 1864, this gem has been a mainstay in the lives of Brisbanites for generations.
Where? 38 Caxton St.
Why visit? The Caxton is Suncorp Stadium’s smaller sibling. Sure, you have to watch the games on a screen, but trust us, watch a game here with a few hundred of your closest mates and rivals and you’ll feel like you’re in the thick of it.
Drink this: XXXX Gold or Betoota Bitter on tap – pace yourself!
Insider tip: On big game nights the Caxton opens its car park as an additional bar. It’s the ultimate pre and post-game location with that rustic car park party feel – tinnies and all.
What? A stunning venue offering a beautiful restaurant, buzzing bar space and multiple function spaces.

Why visit? Sip a pretty cocktail in one of Brisbane prettiest venues surrounded by Paddington’s prettiest people.

Insider tip: Make your Sunday lunch the best it can be with bottomless bellinis. Again, this is a thing that exists.
What? The Paddington Tavern, affectionately known as the Paddo, is a sprawling ode to good times. It has a huge saloon-style bar, grill and an underground comedy club.
Where? Standing tall and proud at 186 Given Tce.
Why visit? Happy hour is a great place to start (4-6pm daily) and the vortex of fun will pull you in from there.
Drink this: The traditional Paddo beverage is a Bundy rum and coke.
Insider tip: Make friends with some of the frequent locals. You’ll find them belting out some Rat Pack classics and ripping up the dancefloor on Karaoke Tuesdays.
What? A cafe by day and twinkling bar at twilight specialising in share plates using local produce.

Why visit? It’s a top spot to partake in Brisbane’s alfresco lifestyle while watching people watching the street. Oh, and meat eaters will fall head over heels for the in-house smoked meats.

Insider tip: Catch the annual chili cook-off in March where chefs from across the city convene and compete for the best bowl in town.
What? A gastro pub in a charming cottage with a comprehensive wine list and a small but delicious bar food menu.

Why visit? The ultimate Paddington drinking hole, Hope and Anchor is housed in a quaint cottage like those that line the hills behind it. Grab a glass of wine and nab a spot at the bar, you’ve made it to your final destination.
